In pursuance of an order made att the genrall quarter Sessions of the peace held for this County by adjorment on
Thursday the thirteenth day of January last whereby itt was referred to as whose names are hereunto
Subscribed & other his Maties Justices of the peace of this County [..] there named or any there of as
to inspect the dwelling house of the Keeper of the house of Correccon att Clerkenwell in this
County and to take to our assistance such workmen as wee should think fitt and to report to this
Court whether in [..] our Opinion itt would be better [..] to repaire the said dwelling house or to
pull downe & rebuild the same & what itt would cost in either case, and to be what other part of the
said house of Correccon was out of repaire & wherein itt ought to be repaired

Wee hereby certifie thet wee have viewd the said Dwelling house & doe find that the same contains
Seventeen square of building & that the Roofe thereof are intirely decayed, that the principall
gridlers are rotten three foot within the inside of the sd house and the floors are soe sunk out
of square that wee suspect if the sd Floors are attempted to be repaired itt will be found they are
intirely decayed and wee find that the foundacons of each front are very much decayed &
bellyed out and that part of the wally are fallen downe and Floors which they Supported
are Showd up and the prmiser are now laid open

And wee are opinion that the repaire of the buildings to make them substantially habitable is
impracticable att least without laying out more mony them will build new & susficient conveinenices
to contain eleven square of building which is not quite two thires of what the prmise are
now incumber with

Wee have treated with workmen who will pull down the old prmiss & build eleven square of now work
According to the modell herewith penced for about three hundred & triely pounds allowing them the
old materialls

Wee futher reliefie that there are eight Wares in the said prison which wee conceive ought to be now
floored & will cost about sixteen pounds and that there remanies due to senall workmen for work
formly done att the said prison the same of sevenly pounds or there about as appears by their [..]
bills All which wee humbly Submitt to the Judgmt of this Honble Court Given Under Our hand
this 17th day of February Anno Dui 1714
