did receive any. Mr Blackborow said he was informed that he did
receive Money from Mr Friquet, that he answered he never received
any. Mr Balckborow said he had been informed. That Witness
desired to know by whom he had been so informed, and defied any
Person to say so to his Face.

That Mr Blackborow sent for him again about a Month
or two after day. Mr Clarke was present, That Mr Blackborow said
he had made up his mind with his Brother Clarke to give Six pence
for every Copy of Commitment which came to that Office from his Prison,
said he was much obliged to Mr. Blackborow but would rather not.
take it. That Mr Blackborow tendered down Six pence for the one
then before him which Witness would not accept. That Mr Blackborow
said if he would not take it, Yardley another Servant of the Keeper's
should have it, and added that if he gave away half the Fees of his
Office what was that to any body. That he laid it on the Desk towards
his Clerk and that he believes Yardley did take the Sixpence. That he
informed Mr Newport his Master the next day of what had passed
and in a day or two after mentioned it to Mr Hinley in the Clerk of
the Peace's Office. Say'd that all the Bails from New Prison do not go
to Mr Friquet's Office and that Mr Friquet never offered him any Money
Say'd he sometimes received Prisoners at the Prison from Mr Blackborow
and Mr Friquet without Commitments and that sometimes the
Commitments did not come that same Evening nor till the next day.
That he does not receive Commitments and discharge for the same
Person at the same time. That if Commitments did not come down
to the Prison with the Prisoner, that in that case the Night Fees only
are Paid by the Prisoner on his Discharge. That Prisoners never lay
several days without Commitments. That he has applied at Mr
Blackborow's Office for Commitments and has been refused Mr Blackborow
saying that he should not have them, As he knew the purpose for
which he wanted them. Say'd he only applied for such Commitments
for his own Safety and that he never was applied to by Mr.
Friquet for such purpose.
