"And it appearing that great benefit has accrued to the
"Counties of Oxford and Norfolk by the Plan adopted in thos Counties of
"employment of Prisoners by hard labour, and which Plan might become
"of great public utility in case it was generally adopted throughout the
"Kingdom; this Society beg leave to recommend to the Magistrates to
"take the same into their serious consideration at such Meeting, and
"likewise to being forward such Plans for the general reform of the
"Police, as they shall think most adviseable, and to be assured that
"every Assistance will be given by this Society to carry the Resolutions
"of the Magistrates at such Meeting into Effect.

"President of the Society for giving Effect to His Majesty's
"Proclamation against Vice and Immorality."

Resolved Unanimously That Samuel Glasse< no role > D,D, and
Nathaniel Conant< no role > Esqr . be and they are by this Court appointed on
behalf of this County to attend the Meeting of the Magistrates deputed
by the several Counties in England and Wales.

Ordered that the Clerk of the Peace do by Letter acquaint His
Grace the Duke of Montagu with their Appointment.

By adjournment same day

The following Proposals for taking the Ground on the South
and East sides of the Boundary Wall of the new intended House of
Correction being laid before the Court and Read Vizt.

No. 1. The Proposal of John Lee< no role >
No. 2. The Proposal of Thomas Silk< no role >
No. 3. The Proposal of Joshua Hodgkinson< no role > .

Resolved that the said Proposals be received and that it
be referred to the Building Committee to advertize for and receive such
other Proposals as may be offered and that they Report their Opinion on
the above Proposals and such other as may be received by them to
this Court.

By Adjournment Same day.

Ordered that the several Papers received from Mr Lane
relative to John Whittal a Constable be returned to him according
to his request.
