The Chairman Stated to the Court That he was apprehensive that His
Majestys Justices of the peace for this County would be under considerable
difficulties in raising Money for the purpose of purchasing the Ground and
Building the intended House of Correction according to the present Laws , and
submitted to the Consideration of the Court Whether the same might not be raised by
means less Burthensome to the Inhabitants of this County if in addition to the
Powers now vested in his Majestys Justices of the peace they were Authorized to
borrow Money upon Life Annuities for the purpose aforesaid - A Motion was
made and Seconded That a Petition be presented to Parliament before the third
day of March next (the day limitted by the House of Commons for receiving Petitions
for private Bills) for leave to being in a Bill to Enable His Majestys Justices of the
peace for this County to raise Money for the purpose aforesaid by borrowing the
same upon Life Annuities to be charged upon the County Rate whereupon it was
Resolved Unanimously that a Petition be forthwith prepared for that
purpose and that William Mainwaring< no role > Esquire the Chairman of this Session
be desired to present the same to the House of Commons

The following Report from the Committee appointed to examine and adjust
from time to time the Account or Accounts of the Treasurer of this County as
well with respect to his Receipts as his Expenditures and also to Examine and
audit all demands of what Nature or kind soever made on this County previous
to the payment thereof being laid before the Court and Read as follows Vizt.

"Middlesex

To His Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County
of Middlesex in their General Session of the peace holden for the
said County in the Month of February 1786 assembled

The Report of the Committee appointed to Examine and
adjust from time to time the Account or Accounts of the
Treasurer of this County as well with respect to his Receipts
as his Expenditures and also to Examine and audit all
demands of what nature or kind soever made on this County
previous to the payment thereof
