Middlesex .

At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King
holden in and for the County of Middlesex at the Sessions House for
the said County on Monday in the Week next after the feast of the
Epiphany to wit the Ninth day of January in the Twenty sixth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third King of Great
Britain etc and from thence continued by several adjournments
to this day(to wit) Thursday the Twelfth day of the same Month

Mr Stirling Stated to the Court That the Persons employed to prepare
the Abstract of the Title of Jervoise Clarke Jervoise< no role > Esqr . and others to the Ground
in Cold Bath fields had not yet compleated the same and therefore he had not
been able to lay the same before Council

Nathaniel Conant< no role > Esquire one of his Majestys Justices of the peace for
this County moved that the following Clause in the Goal Bill be read Vizt.

"And whereas the Expences of building rebuilding enlarging or removing and
"fitting up Houses of Correction may in some Cases become very burthen some on the
"Occupiers of Land and other the Contributors to the County Rates in case the said
"Expences should be raised in the manner herein before mentioned, be it therefore
"enacted, That where it shall appear that the Amount of any Estimate approved
"by the Justices for the building rebuilding enlarging or removing and fitting up
"any House or Houses of Correction, under the Powers of this Act shall exceed one
"half of the amount of the ordinary annual Assessment for the County Rate for
"any County, Riding, Division, City, Town, Liberty, or Precinct (such ordinary
"Assessment to be taken on a mean Proportion of the said Rate for the last Five Years
"preceding) that then,and in such case it shall and may be lawful for the Justices
"of the Peace within the respective Limits of their Commissions, so assembled in
