Parliament made and passed in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of
his late Majesty King George the Second entitled "An Act
for the more Easy Assessing Collecting and Levying County Rates"
they were required to levy within their respective Divisions but
that the said Sums of Money have not yet been paid unto them and
great inconveniences arising therefrom It is Ordered that the
High Constables of the respective Hundreds and Divisions within
this County do forthwith on sight hereof demand in Writing of the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor or other proper persons
of the parishes and places within their respective Hundreds or
Divisions such Sum and Sums of Money as has been respectively
assessed upon such parish or place by virtue of the said Order of his
Majestys Justices in their General Quarter Session of the peace
holden in the Month of April last assembled and in case such
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor or any of them shall
neglect or refuse to pay such Sum and Sums of Money so assessed
as aforesaid such High Constable do levy the same according to the
directions in the said Act contained

New House of Correction
for the County}

The order of the day being called for vizt. "To take into further
Consideration the Report from the Committee appointed in February
Session last to take into Consideration the building a New House
of Correction on a Scale adapted to the Ground purchased of the
Quakers together with the Scite of the present House of Correction
and to prepare a plan or plans for that purpose" and the
Deputy Clerk of the peace having reported that in pursuance of
the Orders of Court of last Session he had sent a Letter to each
of His Majestys Justices of the peace acting in and for this
County of which the following is a Copy.
