have been usually held by the Justices of Peace every Year
in the Severall Divisions within this County for the
Generall Renewing of Licences, And that no Justices
of the Peace are to grant such Licences otherwise
than at such Generall Meetings to be convened
according according to the intention of the said Act of
Parliament, Now upon a Debate had by this Court at
this present Generall Sessions touching the Licenceing
of Retailers of Brandy or Strong Waters This Court Is
of Opinion That for the preventing of Drunkenness and
other Disorders It is requisite that it should be
considered what Number of Persons are proper to be
Licenced in each Parish and Hamlet in this County to
retail Brandy or Strong Waters And doth thereupon
Order that it be And It is hereby recommended and
referred unto his Majestyes Justices of the Peace
for this County residing within the respective Divisions
in the Same County to consider of and agree what
Number of Persons and what Persons are proper
to be Licenced in each Parish and Hamlet within
their respective Divisions to Sell Brandy or
Strong Waters< no role > by retail And to make their Report
in Writing touching the Premisses unto the Court of
the next Generall Quarter Sessions of the Peace for
this County on the County day of the same Sessions
(to witt) Thursday the Sixteenth day of October
next to the Intent that the said Matter may be
then further considered of by the said Court,

Whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the
second Year of the Reign of his present Majesty King
George the Second touching the Licencing Retailers of
Brandy and other distilled Liquors, and for better
regulating of Licences for common Inns and Ale
houses, It is (inter al) Enacted That from and
after the twenty fourth day of Inne One thousand
