P Adjorn Jovis 19 o die Decembris 1728

Order appointing a
Committee for the
Suppressing of Gameing
houses Etc

Whereas the Court of this present Generall Sessions of the peace
holden for this County by adjournmenton Thursday the fifth
day of December instant takeing into confideracon the
many pernicious consequences proceeding from unlawfull
gameing and Gameing houses, And being determined to
use their utmost endeavours to Suppress the Same Did
Resolve that the most regular proper and effectual
method of Suppressing Gameing houses, Nighthouses
and other enormitys menconed in the late Letters of
the Lord Viscount Townshend relating to Street robberys,
was for this Court to appoint a Committee of Justices of
the peace to meet from time to time, and they to report
their proceedings to the Court, And did accordingly
Order that a Committee of one and twenty of his
Maties. Justices of the peace of the Said County Should
be appointed for that purpose, And that Such Committee
Should be chosen by way of balloting, And that all
the Justices of the peace of the Said County Should be
Sumoned to assemble together for that purpose, And
that notice Should be given to acquaint them that
they were desired on that occasion to meet together
at Hicks Hall on this present Thursday the nineteenth
day of December instant at ten of the clock in the
forenoon then and there to deliver in their respecting
ballots of one and twenty Justices of the peace of the
Said County as they for their respective parts Shall
choose to be the Said Committee for the purpose
aforesaid, Now upon delivering in of ballotts by the
Justices of the peace of this County this day assembled
at Hicks Hall in their Generall Sessions (upon publick
notice to them in this behalfe given by the Cryer of
this Court) It appeareth to this Court on inspecting
into the Severall ballotts delivered in by the Said
