The Joint and several Informations of Jane Brown< no role > of Bell
Square, Saint Martins Le Grand in the City of London , Widow
Elizabeth Morphy< no role > of the same Place Singlewoman , Charles Shipley< no role >
of the Old Charge, No. 43, in the said City, Hair Dresser , John Atckison< no role >
of Three Crown Court , Foster Lane in the said City, Patrol, and Joseph
Jackson of Bishop's Head Court , Grays Inn Lane , in the County of
Middlesex Patrol taken before me, William Gill< no role > Esquire one of His
Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said City of London , Who
being upon Oath severally say And first the said Jane Brown< no role > for
herself saith that on Friday Morning last she left her Apartment in the said House
about seven o'Clock in the Morning in the Care of the other Informant Elizabeth Morphy< no role >
and when she returned about a little past Six o'Clock in the Evening She
found the Street Door, the Kitchen Door, and the Door of the Bed Chamber
open, and that she had been robbed of a Cotton Gown, a White Apron and a
Shift Body, taken her Bed Chamber.

And the said Elizabeth Morphy< no role > for herself
saith, that she had Occation to go out from the said House about half
after five o'Clock in the Evening on Friday last that before she went
out she shut the Kitchen Door, pulled to the Door of the Bed Chamber
which has no Fastening, and double locked the Street Door that she
left the Key of the Street Door at the House [..] adjoining Says
that when she returned about ten o'Clock, she was informed the House
had been broke open, and found she had been robbed of nine Yards and
three Quarters of Srich Linen, two Morning Caps a Pair of Bobbins
and a Wooden Box containing a Gown, three Pair of new Cotton
Stockings, one Pair of old Cotton Stockings, one Shift two white Cloth
Aprons, and a Number of other Articles of wearing Apparel Says
that she is very certain the Piece of Linen, the Pair of Gloves and the Piece of
Leather now produced, are her Property.

And the said Charles Shipley< no role > for himself
saith that about half part six o'Clock on Friday Evening last he
observed the Prisoners now under Examination, George Pritchard< no role > and
Thomas Davis< no role > at the Door of the Informant Jane Brown< no role > Says that
on seeing him they left the Door and went out of the Square that he
suspected they had no good Design, and followed them at a Distance
that they wont round George Street , and reentered the Square at
Foster Lane, and he observed them again standing with their Faces
close to the said House of Jane Brown< no role > that he followed them into
the Square, and when they saw him they both ran away Says he
immediately alarmed the Neighbourhood Says that he was present
when the Lodgings of the Prisoner Thomas Devis< no role > were searched and saw the Piece of
Linen, the Pair of Gloves, and the Piece of Leather, now produced, taken
from a Box
