The joint and several Information of George
Brucker the younger of Distaff Lane, London, Sugar Baker, James
White Servant to Mr. John Hemans< no role > of Watling Street London, Linen
Draper, William Brown< no role > of Watling Street aforesaid Cheesemonger and
Jane Palmer< no role > , Servant to Mr.Thomas Neat peace of the Cheshurst in Her Fordshire
who being Oath severally says
And the said George Brucker< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. for himself saith, that
he was on Friday Evening, last about Eight O'Clock, sitting in his
Father 's Compting House when he heard the Cry of Stop
TheifInformant immediately went out into the Street,
and he saw the Prisoner now under Examination William
Coombs running down Distaff Lane, towards Faith Street
Informant run after him, and overtook him, but the
Prisoner himself crying out stop thief, Informant
did not suppose him to be a Criminal, and therefore did
not offer to secure himInformant, when he got into
Faith Street asked the Prisoner which way the theif
was gone, and he said to the right but into sd. of
going himself to the right which led towards Doctors
Commons he run across Fish Street into Labour inand
Vain Hill leading to Thomas Street< no role > Informant
then thought the Prisoner was the Thief, and
pursued him down Labour in Vain Hill, near the
bottom of which he apprehended himAnd the
said James White< no role > For himself saith, that on Friday
Evening last about Eight O'Clock, he saw the
Prisoner , William Coombs< no role > , get behind the Bath
and Bristol Stage Coach, which then stood at the
Door of the three Cups Inn. Bread Street , and take
the Trunk or Caravan out of the Basket, and in
endeavoring to clear it fromt he basket the Prisoner
Fell down together with the Trunk The Prisoner
afterwards Stooped to take the Trunk off the
Ground, and was going away with it, when Informant
came up and stopt himAnother Person interfored
and rescued the Prisoner out of Infomant's Custody
upon which the Prisoner run away toward Distaff
Lane And the said William Brown< no role > for himself
saith, that he was standing at his own door on
Friday Evening last about Eight O'Clock, when
the Prisoner run by and called out stop Thief,
which occasioned Informant not to lay hold of him
