The joint and several Informations of Thomas
Churchill of Saint Agness Le Alice near Hoxton in the
County of Middlesex Labourer , Mary< no role > their Wife of the saidand William Ward< no role > of Holborn Hill
London pawnbroker [..] and Ann Griffin< no role > of [..]
the said County of Middlesex Widow
Who being on Oath severally say as follows and first this
Informant Thomas Churchill< no role > for himself saith on the 28th.
day of March in the Year 1780 he heard from his Wife that Charles Thompson< no role > the
person now under Examination had been there to enguire for
Lodgings and were waiting at the Thatch'd House Islington to
see this Informant, he went to sd. House and left word that he
was at House; says in about a Quarter of an hour said
Thompson, and Mary Young< no role > the other prisoner now under
Examination came to this Informants House, and when he
had made himself known to him this Informant he agreed
with said prisoner Thompson for a Lodging for himself and
the said Mary young< no role > whom he then called his Wife in
this Informants House, says that said Thompson told this
Informant that he had married his Wife at Bath and that
his Business in Town was to receive her Fortune which
amounted to two Thousand Pounds, says that the said Thompson
then went by the Name of George, Oliver; says that the said
Misoner, remained in his House until Friday the 31st. day
of March aforesaid [..] and both going out on that day this
Informant and his Wife waited until Eleven of the Clock [..]
in the Night of that day expecting their Return, then he this
Informant [..] suspecting something was the Matter, went up
Stairs to examine if all was safe, and found that the Door had
been locked and the Key taken out but that the bolt had
not catched in the Staple, he just look'd round the Room
and supposed at first every thing to be right except that he
could not see two Silver Table Spoons which had been
last to them after they came to lodgethe next Morning
this Informant examined again, and supposed still nothing who
missing but the two Spoons; says that on Saturday afternoon
he went up Stairs (as was customary with him) to get the
Cloaths out which he was to wear on the Sunday, and on
going to the Room Door, which had been lock'd and which he
still supposed to be lock'd [..] pound the same had been
broke open and then discovered that he had been robbed
and on look my over his things Minutely in Company with his Wife he missed the
