The Jurors for our Lord the King upon their Oath present That the City of
London is an Ancient City and that according to the Custom of the said City from time
immemorial used and approved of in the same Hugh Johnson< no role > late of London Merchant
on the 21st: day of December in the 19th: Year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord George the
Third King of Great Britain Etc and long before being an Inhabitant and resistant within
the Parish of St. Clement East Cheapin the Ward of Langbourn in
London afsd: and a fit and proper Person to execute the Office of Constable within the
said Ward He the Paid Hugh Johnson< no role > at a Court of Wardmote holden for the Paid Ward
[..] of Langbourn at the Parish of Saint Deinis Back Church within the said Ward
according to the Castom of the said City & Court afsd. on the sd. 21st: day of Dec. in the
year afsd. before John Sawbridge< no role > Esqr . then & now one of the Alderman of the said City
London & then yet Alderman of the sd. Ward [..] waslawfully & in due manner according
to the Custom of the sd. City & Court of Wardmote afsd. then was elected & chosen to
be one of the Constables in and for the said same Ward for and whole Year then next Ensuring
by the Men inhabiting & resiant paying Seat & leaving Let within the said Ward
whereof the sd. Hugh Johnson< no role > afterward to wit on the same 21st: day of December in this
Year afsd: and on lives other day & times after at London afsd: that is to say at the
Parish last aforesaid in the Ward afd. in London afd. had Notice Nevertheless
the sd. Hugh Johnson< no role > not regarding his Duty in this behalf but endeavouring and
intending as much as in him lay totally to hindey and retard the dew Execution of
Justice on the sd. 21st day of Dec. in the Year afsd. and continually from thence unto the day of the
taking their Inquisition at the Parish & Ward afsd:& constantly five thousand unto the day of [..]
