The Information of John Clark< no role > taken before
me this 31st. day of March 1774

Who being upon Oath says that having received an Information
that a Number of Persons made a Practice of feloniously coining
and counterfeiting the Copper Coin of this Realm in a House in
Fish Street London occupied by me Thomas Haywood< no role > , he went
yesterday Morning to the said house with several other Persons
and there found seven Men now presentin the said housewho
call themselves Thomas Haywood< no role > , James Whitehouse< no role > , William
Turner
< no role > , Clark Bailey< no role > , Joseph Metwood< no role > , John Davis< no role > and Thomas
Pickering
< no role > , that there were in the said house two Presses several
pair of Dyes for coining Halfpence a large Quantity of new
coined halfpence a large Quantity of Copper cut into pieces of
the size and form of a halfpenny without the Impression, that
several of the said Persons were without their Cloaths in the
Cellar where the said Presses and other Implements were
and several of the halfpence were warm which this Informant
verily believes was occasioned by their being fresh struck
with the Dyes and one halfpenny was in one of the Presses
and this Informant does verily believe that the said
Thomas Haywood< no role > James Whitehouse< no role > William Turner< no role > , Clark
Bailey, Joseph Metwood< no role > , John Davis< no role > and Thomas Pickering< no role >
have feloniously coined and counterfeited the Copper Coin
of this Realm called halfpence
