Nathaniel Kirkby< no role > of Lothbury near the Royal Exchange
London Warehouseman maketh oath and Saith That he this
Deponent was on the seventeenth Day of July last bound by
Recognizance before Sir John Fielding< no role > Knight one of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace for the County of Middlesex in the penalty of
Forty pounds upon condition that he this Deponent should personally
Appear at the next Session of Oyer and Terminer and General Gaol
Delivery to be held for the City of London and then and there prosecute
the above named Prisoner George Stephen Hearsay for Feloniously Forging
and Counterfieting a certain Bill of Exchange of one Thomas Price< no role > upon
Henry Townsend< no role > Esquire Parliament Street for one Hundred Pounds payable
to Thomas Jones< no role > one Month after Date Dated the Seventh Day of April
One Thousand seven Hundred and Seventy Two and purporting to be
Indorsed by the said Thomas Jones< no role > and this Deponent Saith that the
said Bill of Exchange was by the said Majistrate ordered to remain in
this Deponents Custody for the purpose aforesaid And this Deponent did
According to the best of his recollection and belief deposit the said Bill
of Exchange in a Box where he this Deponent keeps his Securities and
other papers of Value And this Deponent further Saith that some
time about the Twenty Sixth day of August last he this Deponent had
Occasion to go to the said Box to look at a Bond deposited there on
which a Sum of Money was then nearly become due to the before
and that upon this Deponents looking over his papers and Securities
to find the said Bond was gratly Sweprized not to paid amongst his
said Papers the said Bill of Exchange as he this Deponent thought
he had deposited the same there and on Searching the said Box
and the papers kept therein could not find the said Bill of
Exchange and did thereupon make the most diligent and carefull
