Edward Crowder< no role > a Lodger at the House of sd.
Robert Newton< no role > maketh Oath and saith that on
last Thursday he was at the Publick Drinking
Room of the sd. House a little before eleven in the
Evening when five men all Strangers to Dept.
Except John Catlin< no role > came in & called for a Pot of
Beer wch was brought & they drank; they found
fault with the Beer: says that sd. Daniel Asgood< no role >
treated sd. Duncomb who was siting in the sd. Room
with very abusive language and that on Newton's
reprimanding him for such his behaviour he
abused Newton in the like manner and struck
Newton twice with his Fist or wch Newton
immediatly went out of the House to gett help as
Dept. believes and called out to the Watch, or wch
two of them the Deced and another Watchman
came and Dept. follow sd the Watchman who went in Quest of sd. Men that a Fray ensured between the two
Watchmen & the sd Five men as Depts. believes
that the sd. Five men or some of them but which
of them Dept. could not procured dis [..] ned
the two Watchmen of their Staves & cruelly
best the drud with their; that Dept. then returned
home soon after which the sd two Watchmen
came there drank a Pint of Beer & the deced
told sd. Newton that he had been ill used & Dept
saw his can bleed very much.

Charles Barteen< no role > one of the Watchmen
belonging to Blackfryars Precinct maketh
Oath and saith that last Thursday night about
half an hour after eleven of the Clock as the
deced was beating that time he was called to by
the sd Robert Newton< no role > and required to go to his
House to quiat a disturbance there as Dept. believes,
Says that before the deced and Kept got there the present
making the disturbance had quited the House,
and the deced & Dept. went after thought following them
down the Stepat the foot ofleading to Fleetditch
and Dept. being upon the Landing and the deced at the
bottom one of he men but which Dept. cannot say wrested
struck to shthe Staff out of the hand of the deced and
knocked him down with it broke his Lanthorn on
which Dept. for his own safety immediately ran away &
therefore cannot give a more [..] insufficient
