for them and told them that if they would not
pay him for what they had had they might
goe where upon sd. Latlin said, do not let at
goe, but let us pay but they did not pay; that then
sd As good said [..] Dept. Dam your Lyes and
struck Dept. with his first in the fare and then
some of the men struck Edward Crowder< no role > a
Lodger in Newtons House and gave him a bla [..]
lye: that Mr. Newton then went to [..] call the
Watch on which the five near quited the House
going downon which Dept. and sd. Crowder went in guest of Mr.
Newton Whitchey< no role > finet with two Watchmen
with him one of which was the deceased, and
wentNewton went Lane his Wife being in Fits,
and Dept. & Crowder hearing a noise upon the
Steps leading to Fleetditch went thither and
saw severalof thefpersons who Dept. believes
were the Five men who had been at sd. Newton's
House fighting thee with two Watchment one
of which was the deceased says he did not
sit any Weaponand believes they only beat
the Watch
in their hands nor did Deft.six any
blow given to the Watchmen or either of them:
says that Dept. and Crowder directly returned to
Newton House after which the deced and the other
Watchman came there and drank a Shirt of Beer
and the decide shewed Newton one of his Ears
which was very bloody. Says the deced desired
sd Newton to use his endeavourers to find out the
Persons who had abused him. Says he has been
informed and believes that the deced wa [..] thereof
day sent to St. Bartholomew's [..] Hospital wh [..]
he died Saturday Morning last as Dept. hath heard
and believes.
