one Elijah Davis< no role > an Apprentice to Mr. Jones a Mason opposite
my Hastins had at times borrowed five Shillings of me which
I could not get again and threatned would till his Master if he did
not pay me, on Asking his, Master, Davis [..] Came to me and Said
my Boy five Shillings should not make us differ and said we
both wanted Money and a Watch and he would put me into a
Way to Get both for he had been used to go on board ships
and get Liquor and Sill the Same to profitt and asked if
I cou'd not get some Stinking Rum and he could Sill it for
two Shillings a Bottle and often Teazed me to Sitt him
have Some and he would take it away and dispose of it in
Such manner as should not be Suspected which was in a
Bladder put into a Small Tin Box, first him of complying
gave him about a Quart of Porter, Sunday following between
7 and 8 in the Morng: by often asking me nd that Mills &
Kirkman's Man had often Let him have some Brandy Etc
I Received a Bladder from him which I had at opportunitys
put about two Quarts of Brandy and E Davis went into
the Cellar with me and put into a Bagg and two Bottles
of Wine and took them away, and said if any Person Stopped
him he would till them he brot: it from his Cousin whom Dealt in Liquors
and as to Custom ho: officers and the Excisimen they knew him
and would not take any thing from him, Third time Sunday
following he Came for two Bladders which he before had
given me and I had filled with about a Gallon of Burn
and three Quarts of Brandy he went into the Cellar with me
and put the Liquors into a Bagg as before and went away
the fourth time Sunday following John Curtis< no role > came & told me
Davis wanted me at the Door I went to him in the Markett
he told me his Mother was very Ill and desired me to Let him
have a Bottle of Rum which I did
