George Box< no role > of the Strand Gentleman Sollicitor for the Prosecutrix
Maketh Oath and Saith That there being a great Number of
Witnesses on the Behalf of the Prosecutrix on the above Indictment
(one of whom lives in the Country a considerable Distance from
Town) he this Deponent has used his utmost Endeavours to get them
served with Subpenas to attend and give Evidence on His Majesty's
Behalf against the said Matthew Concanen< no role > but has not been able
to procure several of them to be served with Subpenas most of which are very
material Witnesses for the Prosecutrix as Deponent is informed
and verily believes and without whose Testimony it will not be
safe for the Prosecutrix to proceed to the Tryal of the said Matthew
Concanen
< no role > And this Deponent veryly believes from the repeated
times he has sent to serve [..] of the Witnesses with Subpenas
that they have been persuaded to secret themselves or keep
out of the way in order to evade being served with Subpenas
And this Deponent further Saith that he has been informed
that the said Matthew Concanen< no role > has not [..] baded to the above
Indictment .
