The Examacon of Thomas Taylor< no role > one of
the Clarkes of the Pay Office London taken
the 25th. day of February Anno Dni 1705 .

This Exaiant Saith That on Tuesday night last
he mett one Elizabeth Davis< no role > comeing downe the Navy
Office Staires, whoe Shewed this Examiant a Navy
Office Bill No. 239 made out to Anne Wilson< no role > for
four hundred forty two pound tenn Shillings and alsoe
a paper purporting a bill of Sale of the said Navy
Office Bill to her the said Davis from the said Wilson
beareing date the 4th of June last and desired this
Exaiant to tell her where the Said bill was to be paid
which this Exaiant told her was att the Pay Office, and
bid her goe the next morneing thither and the Gentleman
whoe was to pay the money would give her a Hole
upon the Bauth upon which the said Davis desired this
Exaiant to meett her att the Bank betweene Eight and
Nine a Clock the next morneing to help her to tell the
month which this Exaiant promised her to doe, and
accordingly this Exaiant went to the Bank, and there
found the said Davis telling owe the money, and had
told over £100. and putt it up and then looke £300.
more by content, and reced the rest in Gold, and then
desied this Exaiant to call her a Coach which he did
and Sent the Coachman for the money which he brought
and putt into the Coach, and this Exaiant and the said
Davis went into the Coach, and ordered the Coachman
to drive to Gray June, but the said Davis in goeing
ordered the said Coachman to Stopp and Sett her downe
att Holborne bridge which he accordingly did and then the
said Davis desired this Exaiant to pay the £400. into
the Bank againe, and to take a Note in his owne names
and she would call for it when She came to Towne, but
did not tell this Exaiant what Country she was goeing
into or when she would returne, and went away, and
this Exaiant hath not seene her since, And this Exaiant
further Saith That he haveing business to doe in Holbourne
left the money with one Madm Pearce his wifes
Grandmother in Grays Inne , and about five a Clock the
