London And to the Rt. Worll. his Maties. Justices in the Generall
Quarter Sessions Assembled

The humble peticon & Appeale of the Churchwardens &
Overseers of the Poore of St. John Zacharyes London

Sheweth


That Thomas Williams< no role > with Elizabeth< no role > his wife & one Richard Muffey< no role > an infant
aged 6 yeares or thereabouts by virtue of a Warrant under the hands &
Seales of twoe of his Maties. Justices of Peace within the City of London
(one being of the Qur) were brought by the Churchwardens & Overseers of
the Poore of St. Mary Steyning unto yor. Petrs. to be pvided for on the oath
of the said Thomas Williams< no role > that he was last legally settled in the Parish
of St. John Zachary where hee lived sevall yeares go an Appntice with
Richard David< no role > Smith Whereas in truth the said Thomas Williams< no role > lived
as an Appntice with one Henry Watts< no role > an Inhabitant in the parish of St.
Mary Steyning above Five yeares And afterwards was turned over
to the said Richard Davis< no role > who was only a lodger in the Parish of St.
John Zachary with whome he continued about 5 monthes And then went
to Sea And had noe legall settlement in their said Parish

Yor. Petrs. therefore humbly pray yor. Honor. & Worpps.
to order the said Churchwardens of St Mary Steyning
to appeare before you And to heare them all in the prmisses
And to Quash the said Warrant And send the said
Thomas Williams< no role > Elizabeth Williams< no role > & Richard Muffey< no role >
backe to the said Parish of St. Mary Steyning to be pvided
& mainteyned untill they can Free themselves of the charge thereof
by due course of Lawe
