The humble Peticon and Appeale of the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poore of the Hamblett of Ratcliffe
in the parish of Stepny in the County of Middx

Sheweth

That by virtue of a Warrant under the Hands and Seales of twoe of
his Maties. Justices of the Peace within the City of London (Quor) unus
bearing date the 7th. day of July Anno Dm 1699 One Anne Gregory< no role >
of Female Bastary Child was sent to yor. Petrs. to be provided for
upon the Severall Oathes of Mary Mills< no role > Mary Glynn< no role > & Elizth. East< no role >
that the said Female child is a Bastard And was borne of the Body of
one Hanna Lea< no role > in the Hamblett of Ratcliffe aforesaid in yor. Petrs. said
Parish and was there baptized by the name of Elizabeth< no role > Whereas in truth
the said female Bastard child now sent to yor. Petrs. is not the Child of the
said Hanna Lea Nor was ever borne of her Body in yor. Petrs. said Parish

Yor. Petrs. Humbly pray yor. Honor. & Worpps. to hear
them in the prmisses & Order the said Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poore of the Parish of St.
Gregoryes to appeare here before you And send the
said Female Bastard child to the said Parish of
St. Gregoryes To be there kept & provided for
untill They can Free themselves of the Charge thereof
by due Course of Lawe
