April 1788.
Who being upon Oath says that being engaged in Washing
near than oClock in the Morning of Monday the 24 of March
last she was alarmed & smelt Fire and upon opening the Room
window up two pair of Stair (which is over the yard behinds
the dwelling house of David otherwise Daniel Clary< no role >
's house)
She perceived a Smoake & heard two or three Persons talking
as she thought at the back Door of Clarys House to whom
she called and asked where the Fire was but could get no other
Answer than a Cry of ''hush
, hush,-That she then
called her Husband (who was asleep in Bed) who immediately
got up looked out of the Window & requested to know
where the Fire was but could obtain no other answer
than what was before given to this Informant
