the Papers and the Cloth had been dipped in Oil and Smelt
very strong of Stinking Oil. That he prevented him from
proceeding in tearing any more of the Papers and secured
them and the Chest. That in the Evening said Clarey came
to him by Appointment and gave him his Claim which
was taken downs in writing and is the Claim now
produced. That they met again the next day when the
said Claim was read over to said Clarey which he
approved of except one Article which was altered and
then he subscribed his Name to each Sheet. That
after said Clarey had finished his said Claim on the Monday
Night this Informant requested him to give him his
Account of the manner in which the Fire had
happened which was taken in writing by this Informants
Clerk and read over to said Clarey the next day which
he signed and is the Account now produced,and Signed and
is the Account now produced
and said "the same was
true"That at the time of the Fire said Clarey was
insured in the Sun Fire Office to the Amount of Nine
Hundred Pounds. but that his Estimate of his
Effects lost at said fire, appears by his own Account
to amount to the Sum of two thousand one hundred Pounds
