Street Dock Head in the County of Surry
Leather Dresser taken before me this 17th. of March
1787 .

Who upon his Oath says that on Wednesday morning the 14th
Instant about 2 o'Clock as he was Returning home from Mr.
Tobins in Drury Lane , he Met a Watchman in a Court near
Drury Lane , who asked him what he had in his Basket (having
therein a Bottle of Brandy) That Informant replied Brandy, and
asked said Watchman if he would have Drop, he said he would
and took the Bottle to Drink, And whilst he was putting the Bottle
to his Mouth, a person now present who calls herself Mary Kane< no role > with another Woman came
up that said Watchman gave said Bottle of Brandy to said Mary
Kane
< no role > , who drank of it and then gave it to her companion, who drank and returned
the Bottle to said Watchman again-That said Watchman after
drinking a second time, Returned the Bottle to this Informant, and
whilst this Informant was putting the Bottle into his Basket the
said Mary Kane< no role > picked his Right hand breeches pocket of a
Clouded silk Purse containing therein Eight Shillings. That
he felt her take said Purse and Money, and upon his Rising up
laid hold of her and charged her and her companion in Covent
