The Information of Elizabeth Vincent< no role > of the Town house at Poplar Widow
William Poplar< no role > of Limehouse Corner in the Parish of Saint Ann Middlesex
Green Grocer and John Baist< no role > of Lime house Corner Aforesaid Bricklayer
Taken this 17th. day of February 1786 before me One of his Majestys Justices
of the peace in and for the said County

Who being onhertheir Oaths say and first the said Elizabeth Vincent< no role > for herself saith that as she was going from Limehouse to Poplar about
Seven O Clock last night, about fifty yards on this side the two Blue Parts on
Stepney Limehouse Causeway a person now present who calls himself Thomas Robinson< no role > stood
up against one of the houses on the Causeway and as she came past him he rushed
out upon her and without saying a Word forcibly took the Cloak from her now
produced. That Informant then immediately called out for, help when William
Pomfret
< no role > and John Baist< no role > came to her Assistance. That the said William Pomfret< no role > anddelivered the Cloak to
her andand securedthe said Robinson was secured by said Pomfret and Baist and taken to
Limehouse Watchhouse The said William Pomfret< no role > for [..] himself saith that as he was coming up
Limehouse Causeway a little after seven O Clock last night he heard a woman cry out
Murder, and immediately he went to her Assistance and when he got to her he
found the Informant John Baist just before him who had secured the prisoner
and in a very short time after the said John Waist< no role > delivered the Cloak to this Informant. That when he first saw the
Informant Vincent she seemed much Agitated and frightened and said she
had been robbed of her Cloak, and wished to have her Clock restered to her whereupon
Informant delivered the Cloak to her and he with the Informant Baist took the
Prisoner to the Watch house at Limehouse and there Lodged him for security
The said John Baist for himself Saith that as he was Coming up Limehouse
Causeway between seven and Eight o Clock last night he heard the Informant
Vincent cry out Murder Twice which first him rather to a stand butandperceiving by a
Lightwhich he there sawthe said Mrs. Vincent advancing towards him and secing her much
Frightened she advanced towards her when she cried out and sayed the man has
robbed me of my Cloak which she repeated andsheon his slepping forwardsheInformant perceived
the prisoner clase by the door of a Mr. Carr and when Informant went up to him
he seemed to be much Frightened and seized. I have been robbed the Man has robbed
me. when Informant Suspecting him to be the person who had robbed the
Woman he secured him at which time Informant Pomfret came to his Assistance
and as they were bringing him towards the Watch house at the distance of about
Ten Yards from where he was taken he trod upon something with his Feet and
on Stooping down found it was the Cloak which he took up and delivered to
Informant Pomfret who delivered the same to Informant Vincent after which
the prisoner was taken to the Watchhouse at Limehouse
