Taken this 23d Day of February 1785
before us Two
of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
in and for the said County
Who being upon Oath Saith that, about Three Weeks ago Benjamin Stokes< no role >
and
a prisoner now here present and another person whom thisDeponent
Informant does not know came to him about Twelve OClock
he being then at the house of Mrs. Nightingale abovementioned and
asked him if he knew where they could Kill a Heifer. who
told them he thought they might Kill it Either at Mr Kenne [..]
or Mr Clarks this informants mar [..] whereupon he went to
Mr Clarks and asked him if they might Kill a Heifer who
Consenting to Heifer being Killed in his Sloughter house
he went back and acquainted the said Stokes and the other
person therewith when they told Informant they would
go and fetch it, That after staying at Mrs. Nightingales
about half an hour they went away and returned about
Dush. with Two Bullocks, and called on him by appointment
at Mrs. Nightingales where he was waiting for them. That
he then went to Mr Clarks got the Key of the Slaughter
house and with the Assistance the said Stokes and the other person drove them up Shakespears Walk [..] into the Staughter
house of the said Mr Clark which is at the back of his house
facing Shakespears Walk
, and the next morning Killed
one of them. the Hide of which is now here produced.
Lastly saith that the Ewe Bullock was the [..] Morning
