The Information of Thomas Mason< no role > taken on Oath
the Eleventh day of November 1783 before me one of
his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex

This Informant or his Oath Saith That he is a Servant who
attends the Shop of Mr. John Shutt< no role > of Holywell street Shoreditch
Grocer And that on the fifth day of November [..] Instant between seven
and Eight O'Clock in the Evening or about that time he being in the shop
a person came in and asked for a half penny worth of Spanish Liquid
Juice and immediately after him, came another person into the Shop
saying he had better have a penney worth, whilst he [..] was serving
the first person who came into the Shop, he heard some other person
come into the Shop and draw of a Parcel which was on a Chest
in the Shop, There being another Servant in the Shop This Informant
immediately run out, where he saw the Prisoner Richard Beard< no role > now under Examination
with the Parcel of Soap now produced carrying the same along
in the Street, This Informant then run after him and saw
the said Richard Beard< no role > drop the same on the Ground, he then
immediately seized Beard by the Collar and took him back
to his Masters shop and his Master sent for a Peace Officer
and gave charge of him And this Informant further
Saith that the Soap now produced is the same Soap that
was stolen out of his Master shop and is the property of
the said John Shutt< no role > his Master
