of November 1783 before me one of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middlesex
This Informant John Mapes< no role >
Saith That he is Coachman to
Mr. Wellings of Hoxton
in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch
in the County of Middlesex
and that on the 5th. day of Novmeber
Instant in the Evening The Coach house belonging to his said
Master at Hoxton
aforesaid was Feloniously broke open and
one Coachmans Great Coal the property of his Master was
tolen and carried away therefore And further Saith That the
Great coal now produced is the same Coal as was stolen
out of the Stable as above mentioned the property of his
said Master.
This Informant Thomas Silvester Pettit Saith That be
knows John Bowmen the Prisoner now under Examination
and that Bowman owing him a few shillings this Informant
asked him for the same, to which Bowman replied he could
not pay him but he would sell him a great Coal and immediately
produced the Coal now here produced, his Informant then
agreed for the same for the price of Ten shillings and six pence
and paid four shillings in part and was to pay the
remainder on a future day And further Saith that the
Great Coal now produced is the same Coal that he so bought
of the said John Bowman< no role >
