April 1783

Who being upon Oath say, and first the said Charles Ball< no role >
says that a Man was (employed by this Informants Wife on the 30th. day
of May last as a Porter to carry a Box or Portmant can and a
Bonnet Box to the Ram Inn in Smith field to go to Northampton
That he observed said Man whilst his Wife and he were talking
and paid him eight pence and as he thinks a pint of Porter for
carrying the same, and further says that he doth verily believe a
Person now present who calls himself Benjamin Williams< no role > to
be the Person who was employed as aforesaid, but on Enquiry
which this Informant made [..] afterwards at the Ram Inn
aforesaid he found he had never carried said Boxes to said Ram Inn
The said Martha Ball< no role > says that she recollects delivering said Boxes
to a Man on said 30th day ofAprilMay last which Boxes
contained a White Sattin Gown now produced a white Cambrick
Polonese and Coat, a Chintz Pattern Gown-a Black mode Clock
and other Wearing Apparel to the value of Forty pounds
and upwards and further says that she doth verily believe that
said Boxes were delivered to said Benjamin William< no role > The
said Mary Jones< no role > says that she was present when said Boxes were
delivered and is very sure that the said Benjamin Williams< no role > in
the Person to whom they were deliveredThe said Samuel Glade< no role >
Says that a white Sattin Gown now produced was pawned at his
Shop in June last by a Woman-That the next day the said
Benjamin Williams< no role > and the said [..] Simon Emanuel< no role >
came to his Shop and said Simon Emanuel [..] paid
him for the gown by the desire of said Benjamin Williams< no role > and
said he was going to Sell the same to said EmanuelThe
said Jacob Nordan< no role > says that he is in Partnership with said
Simon Emanuel [..] That the said Benjamin Williams< no role >
and he met by Accident about nine Months agoThat said
Williams told this Informant he had a handsome Gown and other
things in Pawn which wanted to Sell and asked him to
go with him and but the sameThat he met said Williams
