John Gilson< no role > the Younger of the Parish of Christ Church
Middlesex Surgeon Saith he Examined the Deceased
in Bethnall Green Workhouse the Evening of his Death
And again Thursday last the 16th. Instant and again
in Friday the next dayThat the first time Informant
only Examined whether his Skull was fractured or not
And Saith he did not Perceive that it was And he afterwards foundNor wasthere was not any Fissure
That he Examined very Minutely externally on Thursday And on
Friday Informant Opened his Head and Body
That there were Eleven Contused Wounds on his Head
The largest was on the left side his Head a Triangular
Wound almost to the Skull in Depth and about three Inches
in Length each wayIn his Face were a few
And One in the Left Eye The Coats of it securd' Piered' through
There were several Bruises on both his Arms
Did not Perceive any thing Particular about his Back
That they Wounds and Bruises Appeared to have been
made by Stones or Brick bats or by HallandThat on Opening the
Head he Perceived the Dura maker (the Membrane which
Lies close to the Scull) was much Inflamed and Secured
to have a Flind under neath itThat Alone would
have Caused his DeathThat when Informant opened
said Membrane a Quantity of Bloody Fluid Issued from between the Dura and Pia maker it
Saith he thought he Perceived most to Issue from the left
side (the Part where the largest Wound was)
Saith the Internal Parts of his Body were all in their
natural StateThinks the different Blows he Received on
the Head were the Cause of his DeathNo One in Particular
