aforesaid the 14th. day of August 1789

maketh Oath and saith that between the hours of five
and Six in the Evening of Yesterday the 13th instant Deponent
was informed a Drowned Manlay at Billingsgate
Stairs in
said Ward that he went down to said Stairs and saw the deced
floating in the Water between two Whereups at said Stairs that
Deponent gave direction to two people that were standing
by to bring the Body on Shore, that the Body was broughton
Shore to the Bone house of the parish of Saint Mary at Hill
that there don't appear to be any marks of Violence about
the deced. that Deponent found a paper in the Breeches
pocket of the deced, by which paper is appears that the
deced was Named John Turnpenny< no role >
; and was appointed
to do Duty as a Watchman on board the Ship Hibberts
from Jamaicas
