Petition for leave to
raise the Roofs of
Houses adjoing. Bethlem
The President informed the Court that a Petition had been presented to the
Committee for letting the City Lands by
John Russell< no role >
praying leave to raise the Roofs
of 5 Houses adjoining the Hospital of Bethlem 5 feet higher than they are at present
and through the interposition of the President the Committee of City Lands had
deferred coming to any determination on the subject till Thursday the 2d. of August
And the Court taking the same into their consideration
Not complied with.
Resolved unanimously that the President be requested to inform the Committee of City
Lands this Court are of opinion that the raising of the Roofs of the said Houses
will very much impede the proper circulation of Air and will be of material injury to
the Hospital of Bethlem and therefore the Court do humbly request the Committee of
City Lands not to comply with the request of Mr.
