Continued Friday 17th. October 1777.

To walk in the procession to the Spittal at Easter with his Gown
on and his Staff of Office in his Hand before the School Master who walks
at the Head of the Artsmasters and their Apprentices.

To see that the Workmen and their Servants do go regularly and
duly about their work and that some of them do every Evening when they
leave work enter an Account thereof in the respective Books Provided &
lodged in his Apartment for that Purpose.

To see the Gates of the Hospital are Shut at nine oClock from
Michaelmas to Lady Day and at ten from Lady Day to Michaelmas
and that the locks fastenings and hinges of the Gates Doors and Prison [..]
are Kept Oild and in good Order.

To see that his Man do come upon the Watch every Night at Nine and
Stay there till eleven oClock and at that time to see one of the Beadles or his
Man in their respective turns do come upon the Watch.

To be at the School every Morning at School time and enter in the
School Book the Names of such Apprentices as neglect coming to School
with the reasons for such neglect.

To Attend the Courts and Committees and to wait upon the President
and treasurer at the Publick Dinners in his gown to make out the
Sammons's to be delivered by the Beadles to the Prosecuters of Prisoners
and he and his Man are never to be Absent from the Hospital at the
same time.

To receive the President at the Gate of the Hospital and to conduct him
to and from the Court on Publick Occasions with this Gown on and his
Staff of Office in his Hand.

To Assist and obey his Superior Officer when called thereto by them and
to keep his Man and the Beadles in Obedience to him and as Constable
to call and command them to his Aid and Assistance in performing
his duly.

To Acquaint his superior Officers of any misbehaviour of the
Beadles or his Man.

And for the better execution of his Office he is annually about
Christmas to be sworn at Guildhall a Constable.

To Attend Divine Service on Jabbath Days.

To see that the Mens Prison be washed once a Week with
Vinegar and fumigated once a Week with Tar.
