upon Reading the Proposalof Joseph Sleath< no role > of Bridewell Precinct
London Victualler Setting forthThat he proposes to take a Lease from the
Governors of Bridewell Hospital (on their Putting the premes into Tenantable repair)
of two Messes or Tenements at the End of Tudor Street in Bridewell Precinct year the
Ditch for the Term of 21 Years to Comence from the time of their being repaired to be sent as on [..] at the
Rent of £22 Payable quarterly at the Compting house of Bridewell Hospital the
Governors Allowing the Land Tax and to Execute a Counter part of such Lease
which is to Contain the usual Covenants and a Covenant to serve the office of
Chappelwarden when Ellected in the usual Manner and to pay to the
Chappelwardens quarterly his Proportion with the other Inhabitants of the
Sumes which shall be rated at the usuall Meetings towards the Charge of the
Scavenger Watch and poorIt is Ordered that the said Proposal be
referred to the Comittee of this House to Consider thereof and to Report their
Opinion thereon to the Court

Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 20th
of June 1746 under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr . Trear Doctor Richard
Rawlinson
< no role > Mr. Deputy Hunt Mr. John Whalley< no role > and Mr. Gilbert Malcher< no role > as
follows Vizt.)At this Comittee the petition of Henry Lawrence< no role > of Bridewell
precinct Victualler (which was referred to them by Order of Court the 7th. of March
last was read) Setting forthThat the Petitioner Proposes to take a Lease
of the Governors with such Covenants as are usually Contained in Leases to their
Tenants in Bridewell Precinct of three Messes or Tenements Situate on the North
said of Tudor Street in the Precinct of Bridewell London (and late in the Possion
or Occupation of May Alcock) for 21 Years to Comence from. Middsr. next 1746 with
a Covenant to Serve the Office of Chappel warden when duely Elected thereto
And to Pay to the Chappelwardens of the said Precinct for the time being such
Sume and Sumes of Money quarterly in Proportion with other own Pyer of ground
and houses in the said Precinct towards the Charge of the Cavenger Watill and
poor of the said Precinct as shall be rated or Assessed from time to time at the
usuall Meeting of the Chappel wardens and Inhabitants of the said Precinct
and to pay the Yearly Rent of £10 Clear of Taxes quarterly at the Compting house of
the Hospital of Bridewell London and to Pay a Time of £20 and to execute
a Counter part of such LeaseAnd praying a Lease According to his sd. proposals
And some of this Comittee with the Watchmen haveing Viewed the premes the
said Henry Lawrence< no role > being called in Proposed to make the rent £12 P Ann
and the Time £30 and being called in a Second time Proposed to make the
Rent £15 and the Time £30This Comittee haveing Considered the said last
proposal are of Opinion to Accept the same upon [..] luch the said Henry
Lawrence
< no role > gave a Guinea to the Poors boxAll which is Nevertheless Submitted
to the Judgement of the CourtAnd it is Ordered that this Opinion be reported
to the CourtThis Court haveing duely Weighed and Considered the
said Report doth Confirm the same And Order that a Lease be made to the
said Henry Lawrence< no role > Accordingly.

City haveing Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Mr. Benjamin
Thatcher
< no role > late one of the Artsmasters by Indre bearing date the 4th. day
of November 1723 .
