Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of Bridewell Hospital bearing
date the 19th. day of January last under the hands of Robert Bishop< no role > Esqr .
Trear John Bacon< no role > Esqr . Mr. Daniel Collcutt< no role > Mr. Deputy Mingay and Mr.
Edward Holloway< no role > in the word and figures following Vizt.Upon
the Application of Mary Waldo Relect and Executrix of James Waldo< no role > [..]
late Hempdresser in this Hospital and In Pursuance of an Order of Court
of the 11th. day of March 1735. this Comittee have taken into Consideration
the Petition of the said James Walder Settingforth that he being permitted
to lay Hemp and Flax in a large Warehouse in the Outward Court of
this Hospital had a great Quantity therein which cast him £226.16
when the Fire happned on the 3d. of January 1735 at Night which [..]
with such Violence that it consumed great part of the said Good before
proper releif could be had to extinguish it and what part remained unconcerned
was so greatly damaged that he was oblidged to sell the same for £40. so that
his Loss amounted to £186.16.And praying the Governors to take his
misfortunes into Consideration and give him such releif as to them shall

And this Comee being informed that by Lease dated the 3d. day of February
1700. the said Governors did demise to William Burton< no role > A peice of Ground
and a Shed thereon Erected on the West side of Water street in the Precinct
of this Hospital To hold for 41 Years at the Rent of £4. P Ann And the said
William Burton< no role > did thereby covenant to lay out £200. in building
Warehouses of equal height with the Messuage adjoyning which neither he
nor the said James Waldo< no role > who was his Exor ever didNow this Comee
taking all the matters aforesaid into their Consideration are of Opinion that
upon the said Mary Wolde's forthwith paying to the Steward the arrears of
Rent of the said Ground & Shed to Christmas last and paying to the
Treasurer Fifteen Guineas a Surrender of the said Lease be accepted and the
Counterpart thereof to be delivered up to her to be cancelled All which
nevertheless is Submitted to the Judgment of the CourtAnd it is
Ordered that this Opinion be reported to the next CourtThis Court
having duly Weighed and Considered the said Report doth Confirm
the same.

Mr. Peter Roberts< no role > one of the Governors of this Hospital reporting to this
Court that in pursuance of an Order of Court the 15th. of December last
He and Mr. Deputy Wiley another of the Governors of this Hospital had
made Enquiry and found that Thomas Gutteridge< no role > who served his
Apprenticeship in this Hospital is set up for himself in the Trade of a Weaver
& hath the Chameter of a diligent and soberman It is Ordered that the
Steward of this Hospital do give and pay unto the said Thomas Gutteridge< no role >
Ten pounds out of Mr. Lock's Gift to be allowed him in his next
Account.

Mr. Robert Hall< no role > one of the Governors of this Hospital reporting to
this Court that in pursuance of an Order of Court the 15th. of Decr.
last He and Mr. Richard Bridgman< no role > another of the Governors of this
Hospital had made Enquiry and found that John Shackella< no role > who
served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital is set up for himself in the
Trade of a Weaver & hath the Character of a diligent and sober man
It is Ordered that the Steward of this Hospital do give and pay unto the
said John Shackella< no role > Ten pounds out of Mr. Lock's Gift to be allowed
him in his next Account.
