Examination TextFrancis Selfe aged 49 years and upwards lodging at Mr Hyett's in Mercer Street in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Isaac Selfe (who died upwards of 20 years ago) to whom she was married the Fleet 30 years ago, that he was a Cordwainer by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Langthorne a Cordwainer opposite Dirty Lane in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid and there served all his time out which expired about 31 years ago, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 29th day of September 1756 before Benjamin Cox.
