Examination TextSusannah Pettey aged about 61 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Edward Pettey (who died [blank] years ago) to whom she was married at St Andrew's Church in Holborn 44 years ago, that he was a Cordwainer by trade and served seven years apprenticeship to Mr Turner a Cordwainer in Hills Alley (now Hanover Street) in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together after the expiration of his said apprenticeship, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband. Taken in the workhouse the 15th Day of November 1756.
