Salary of the Matron


it will be more for the Benefit of the foul Patients that their
Flannels for Salivating be provided at the Expence of the
Hospital and not of the Matron as has been usual And that
in Consideration of the Profits arising from them & instead
of teh present Salary of £10.4 P Ann and £19.1.4 Board
Wages She be allowd for the future a Salary of £60 a Year.
We have likewise drawn up some Rules for the Conduct of
the Matron which we think will greatly promote the Service
of the HospitalAnd which are as follows Vizt.

Duty of the Matron


The must receive into Her Custody & Keeping all the Stores of
Linnen and Woollen that are made use of in this Hospital
examine and see that the Contents are exact with the Bills
of Parcells that come with them & if found Right She must
Sign such Bills of Parcells and deliver such Bills of Parcells
to the Steward but if She discover any want of guantity She
must give Notice thereof to the Steward that proper allowance
be made.

She must keep an account (in a Book for that purpose) of all
the goods that come into her Custody with the Dates when
receiv'd and also the guantity's when & to whom they are dele-
ver'd Out.

She must examine the Sheets in the several Wards & such as
grow thin in the middle order that they be turned and when
unfit for any further Service to take them away & deliver new
in their Room placing in her Account the Receipt & Delivery
of such Streets & the Respective Wards when & to whom such
Delivery was made

Shemust take care that every Ward be furnished with a sufficient
quantity of Rdlers, Bolsters etc. for the use of the Surgeons Patients
and often examine the Nurses and see in what manner they
keep them to prevent their beeing wasted for these purposes the
old streets are to be broken use and placed to the Respective
Wards Account of old Linnen

She must (if she break up any new Linnen for the purposes above)
place the number of Ells of such delivery to the respective Wards
in her Account but nonlio Linnen to be us'd for this purpose if
old can be had

She must take care that no Ruggs Blankets Beds Bolstons or
Curtains be laid a side as [..] till she have well examin'd
them and such as by minding may be made fit for further Services
she must give orders that may be so mended accordingly
