St. Thomas's Hospital 28 May 1801
Sir
I think I informed you, when you last called here that
the grand Committee of this Hospital had feared the Payment
of the Hospital Rents as Ladyday & Michmas in Preferance to
the other Quarters. Your Rent has been usually paid up to
Midsummer & Christmas, but you well have the Goodness to
make your next Payment up to Lady day last (which will be
three quarters) & afterward by half yearly Payments within
one Months after they become due. It better comforts with
the Publishment, & made of keeping the Accounts to receive it to
these Terms of Payment.

About a year ago you remitted £5. on Account of quit
rents received from the Tenants of the Manor of [..] Hastingleigh
or Comb Grove Have you been able to make any further pro-
gress in collecting then Rents or an a featuring the Ann [..] of
the Rentals. I have the Pleasent to tell you that our late
Treasurer Mr Jeffries is in Town, of looks accordingly well sent
he resided in the County.

Sir
I am favoured with your Letter of the 4s. evening a
Remittance on John Ellett< no role > Value £560 which when paid
will of Coerm be securred to your end it. Being anxious to
have the Colliery Accounts sent punctually on the fear Monday
on way b [..] nth, there being two Months due I shall be
much obliged by then being forwarded to me as soon as
Possible. Not concerning that either myself as Treasurer
or that any agents to the Hospital have a Rights to execuse
Tenants from paying then rents, I must request your
taking the he a pay steps to collect the Arrears ; as they same
Time I beg to observe that when Cases occur calley for the
Humanity of the Governors toward then Tenants, I will
at all Times attend to your Recommended at our on the
Subject of readly submit the same to the Grand Com-
-mittee; has I cannot on any consideration on yes then
Doculy to be extented to remitting the Rents of the Tenants
as Relief should be distinctly officially given for that
purpose.
