Case

The Appelts in the Son of Francis Palmer< no role > who keeps the Three
Tuns in Old Belton St . Saint Giles's

The Responds. is a Plater and lives in Streatham Street Bloomsbury

The Appellt. at the time he was bound to the Respondent was about the
age of 14 and at that time Responds. had a Shop in Gilbert Street Bloomsbury
and about Nine Months afterwds. he took a little Shop in Union Street
Bishopsgate Street when the Appellant used to go every Morning between 5
and 6 oClock and stay there the whole day and came home to Bloomsbury at
Night sometimes the Respondent would not make his appearance at the Shop
at any time in the day when the Boy has been left without Victuals and
sometimes he has staid away from the shop for a Week togr. the Boy waitg.
for him in Expectation of his coming there to give him Victuals and at
length he has been obliged to apply to his Father and Friends for Money to
buy him Food . He continued at this Shop about 12 Months and then he
came back to where he now lives-There he has behaved frequently to the
Boy in a very Cruel manner. Has frequently come home Drunk and
Beat him and has continued Drunk for a Week together-The Respondt.
havg. very frequently complained to his Father upon this Subject as well as
upon the Ill treatment of the Boy by beatg. etc. without Effect The Father
had him taken before Justice Addington but on accot of the premium
being above £5 sd. he could not discharge him and advised him to apply
to the Sessions-But however the Father was desirous of making another
Tryal and permitted the Boy to go home again

The Respondent made no amendment in his Conduct towards the
Boy-he got Drunk as usual almost dailey and did not attempt to teach
the Boy his Trade. On the other hand was continually I ll using him

On the 20th. of June last about 5 o Clock in the afternoon the Boy
went out to Buy a Paunch for his Masters Dog and while he was boiling it
the Respondent came in Drunk and ask'd him what he was blowing the
fire away for. He say'd it was to Boil the Paunch-Nothing further was
said
