Augt. 1793 Petr. was found apprentice for 7 years to

and Founder
and in Conson of £20 pd. to him by Petrs. Father he Covenanted to
teach & instruct the Petr. in the Art of a Plater and Founder
which he
followed as by sd. Indr. wod. appear

had divers times behaved towds. the Petr.
with great Cruelty by Violently Assaultg. and beatg. him without any Just Cause
and otherwise Ill treated him by refusg. and neglectign to find and provide him
with necessary Food and by Neglecting to teach him his Trade
That the said John Stephens< no role >
havg. on the 20th. day of June Inst.
Violently and Maliciously Assaulted Beat & Bruised the Petr. in & upon his head
Neck Shoulders & divers parts of his Body. with a Stick without any cause or
provocation whatsoever on ye. Petrs. part Petr. applied to Nicholas Bond< no role >
Esqr.
one of his Matys. Justices of the peace
for the County of Middx. for protectr. who
thereupon caused the sd. John Stephens< no role >
to come before him to ansr. ye. sd. Complt.
and upon hearing the said Complt. the sd. Justice Ordered and directed tho sd.

to find Sureties to ansr. the same at the present Sessn. and
advised Petr. to apply to their Worships for Rederss & directed Petrs. Father to
take him under his Protection until the hearg. & determins of sd. Complt.
whereby Petr. conceived himself aggreived & prayed to be discharged from his
sd. Apprenticeship so that he may able to Bind himself to ansr. Master for
the remainder of the sd. Term And that their Worships wod. be pleased

to pay back to Petr. such proportn. of the sd.
Sum of £20. given with him as an Apprentice Fee to the sd. John
