to Carry Offenders into other Counties to be tryed for
Offences committed there.

That he does not know of any particular
Law which obliges the City of London to repair
the Gaol of Newgate any otherwise than in
the View of its being a County Gaol of London
and so far as regards the City he said he thought
they ought to repair it and that he never heard
of the County contributing the [..] Repairs
of Newgate

Being asked whether he did not think
the County of Middlesex was equally bound
with the City to repair their County Gaol he
said That every County is obliged to repair
or rebuild their County Gaol and knows of no
Law which exempts the County of Middx
