Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell
in the County of Middlesex
and to the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn above
Barrs in the County aforesaid

WHEREAS Complaint hath been made by you the
Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell
unto us whose Hands and Seals are
hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace (where-
of one is of the Quorum) for the County afore-
said, that Margaret Rake< no role > the Wife of Samuel
Rake
< no role > (who hath Deserted her) and her three Children
Elizabeth< no role > Aged about twelve Years Thomas< no role > Aged about
Six Years and Ann< no role > Aged about two Years have
lately intruded themselves into your said Parish of Saint
James Clerkenwell
there to inhabit as Parishioner contrary to the Laws relating to
the Settlement of the Poor, and are there like to become charge-
able, if not timely prevented: And Whereas, upon due Exami-
nation and Enquiry made into the Premisses,
it appears unto US, and we accordingly adjudge, that the said
Margaret Rake and Children are
like to become chargeable unto the said Parish of Saint James
Clerkenwell and that the last legal Place of
Settlement of the said Margaret Rake< no role >
is in the said Parish of
Saint Andrew Holborn above Barrs

These are therefore in his Majesty's Name, to order and require
you the said Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell aforesaid, that you
or some of you, do forthwith remove and convey the said
Margaret Rake< no role > and Children
from your said Parish of Saint
James Clerkenwell to the said Parish of Saint
Andrew Holborn above Barrs and them deliver
to the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some
or one of them, together with this our Warrant or Order, or a
true Copy hereof; whereby they are likewise required, in his
Majesty's Name, and by Virtue of the Statutes in such Case
made, forthwith to receive the said Margaret Rake< no role >
and Children
into their said Parish and provide for them
as their own Parishioner. Given under our Hands and Seals the
Twentyeth Day of April in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty four
