Northumberland House 5th. Novr. 1768

Gentlemen

As you have had the goodness to shew a great
Regard to my former application to you, on behalf of the late
Mr. Stoddart, by appointing him Keeper of clerkenwell
Bridewell , which office is now again become vacant by his
unfortunate death, I persuade myself you will on this
occasion allow me to recommend to your favour the bearer
Mr. Edward Hall< no role > , whose fidelity prudence, and good
conduct, have for many years been well known to me,
and who, I am convinced, if you shall be so obliging to
appoint him to that Office, will Execute it to your
satisfaction by a faithful and diligent discharge of his
Duty. I am with the greatest Truth & Regard

To the Woshipful Jno Hawkins< no role >
Esq . Chairman & the rest of His
Maty's Justices of the peace for that of Middx.

Gentleman

Your Most obed. humble Servant
Northumberland
