1768.
September.

Hodgson received due Notice together with a Copy thereof and
an invitation to attend us the said Justices on Thursday the 7th.
Day of July last in order to his Exculpation.

That he the said Ralph Hodgson< no role > This name instance is in set 3684. attended accrodingly
assisted by Council to manage his defence, and divers Witnesses,
namely George Caffarey< no role > , Burford Camper< no role > , Thomas Wright< no role > ,
John Dawson< no role > , and Robert Anderson< no role > , were then and there
Examined on Oath, in the presence and hearing of the said
Ralph Hodgson< no role > and his Council, who cross Examined them,
and made objections from time to time, as they saw occasion,
but produced no Witnesses on the part of him the said Ralph
Hodgson save and except an affidavit of his own making
which he declined reading.

That according to the best of our Judgments the Evidence in
support of the Petition sofar as it related to the several Facts above
stated was full clear and decisive, and therefore We cannot but think
and look upon the said Ralph Hodgson< no role > as accessary to the outrages
and disorders aforesaid to the great disturbance of the public Peace
and Terror of his Majestys subjects; and do therefore apprehend
him most unworthy and unfit to exercise or hold the Office or
authority of a Magistrate for this County.

In Consequence of which opinion and determination
from motives of Justice to the public; and influenced
by that reverence for the Government and Laws of
this Country, which We ourselves entertain, and it
has been and is our constant endeavour to excite
in others, We hold it to be our indispensible Duty to
join in an application for the superseding or
otherwise removing the said Ralph Hodgson< no role > from
the Office and authority of a Justice of the Peace for
the County of Middlesex ; and do accordingly in the
method of address prescribed to us, by the ancient
and accustomed usage in matters of this nature
make this our representation and remonstrance:
submitting the Consideration thereof to your
Lordship's Wisdom and Judgment

Signed by Order of the Court
James Waller< no role >
Cl. of the Peace
