Information being now given to his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for this County Session assembled that John
Stodart Gentleman
late Governor
or Keeper of the
House of correction
at Clerkenwell
in this County
departed this life since the last General Session of the
Peace This Court doth declare the Office Place or Employ-
-ment of Governor or Keeper of the said House to be
vacant And doth Order that until another Governor
or Keeper of the said House of Correction shall be
appointed according to the Statute in that behalf

Larceny except

This Court taking into consideration the inconveniences
that has lately arisen and will arise by the permitting Council to plead in Cases
of petit Larceny Doth unanimously resolve to confine the
Council for prisoners for petit Larceny to speak to the
matters of law only And that

Acquaint the Council attending this Court that it is expect
ted of them for the future to confine themselves to mat
ters of law in those cases of felony and that the Court
will examine the matters of fact without Council.
The Gentlemen of the bar were accord. acquainted with this order, on the Morr.
and on the County say of the Foll session it was confirmed as a stand Ord.
and the Gentlemen were again made acquainted thereof.
