insisted on the prisoners being discharged on asking pardon and
acknowledging he was drunk, That several of the petitioners
were obliged still to abscond from their dwelling Houses where
they had considerable property, apprehending their lives in
danger from these Rioters and therefore praying this court
to take their case into consideration and that such methods
might be taken for the preservations of the lives and properties
of the petitioners and other his Majesty's subjects residing
in that part of the said County

of the allegations and for that purpose examined Burford

touching the same whose Evidence affording sufficient
Ground for the retaining the said petition It is resolved and
ordered by this Court that the Clerk of the peace
of this County
do write a Letter to the said

be present on the County day of the next Session to answer the
matters charged upon him and to vindicate his conduct and
that the petitioners do attend the Court at the same time to be
further heard touching the matters of the said petition and
to receive the answer of the Court thereon.
