inspected by us on the 31st. day of august 1769 Mr. Shakespear
Johathan Durden< no role > Stephen Cole< no role > . and the said Paper
Writing being read and considered Mr. Richard Jupp< no role >
Carpenter who performed the said late Work being
called in and Examined concerning the same This Court
doth think if expedient that care by forthwith taken to
secure the said Bridge and abutment from further
Injury and that the Cause of the ill State there of be
further Examined into and proper means used for the
preservation of the Bridge And doth therefore Order
that it be and it is hereby recommended and referred
to the said John Hawkins< no role > Esquire and to John Phillips< no role >
George Mercer< no role > John Wright< no role > William Russel< no role > Boulton
Mainwaring and John Spencer< no role > Colepeper Esquires
together with the said William Shakespear< no role > Jonathan
Chadwick Durden< no role > and Stephen Cole< no role > Esqrs . as a Comittee
to meet together at the Swan Inn near the said Bridge
on Friday the 15th. day of this instant September at
ten of the Clock in the forenoon And take a Survey of
the said Bridge and Abutment within this County and
to Examine the State and condition thereof And what
Damage the same hath sustained since the last repair
and to what cause such Damage is to be imputed And
the said Justices are desired to report their proceeding
together with their opinion to the Court on the County day
of the next Session and the said Committee are to have
the assistance of able Workmen to inspect the Works if
it shall be thought necessary And Mr. James Jefferson< no role >
the Treasurer of this County is to attend the said Committee
with the necessary papers if they shall to desire.

John Hawkins< no role > Esqr . Chairman of the Sessions is requested to
state a Case for the opinion of Council whether the obligation
is upon Thos. Wood< no role > Esqr . to repair his Wharf or on the Inhabits
