Order for allowing a yearly
Sum of £4 to the Housekeeper
of Hicks hall for coals & firing
for the Dineing Rooms there
for the Accomodation of the
Justices of the Peace

enlarged to £8.
Jamy 1764

whereas the Housekeeper of the Sessions House called Hicks Hall
in St John Street in the County of Middx hath been formerly
allowed & paid the Sum of forty shillings a Year for coals
and fireing by him provided & found in the Dineing Rooms
at Hickshall for the accomodation of the Justices of the peace
of the said County assembled in Sessions, Now upon application
made unto this Court by Mr Thomas Northcote< no role > the present
Housekeeper of Hickshall informing this Court that by the
frequent Sittings of Committees of Justices of the peace at
Hickshall aforesaid out of Sessions time for transacting matters
to them referred by Orders of Court relating to the said
County who have fires provided & found for them, the said
former allowance is not near sufficient to reimburse him
the Expence he is at for the fireing by him found & provided
for the said Justices of the Peace in Sessions and out of Sessions
And that the Price of coals is very high, And the said Housekeeper
therefore prayed that this Court will be pleased to Order
that the said former allowance for coals & fireing may be
augmented This Court upon Consideration of the premises
Doth Order that the Housekeeper of Hickshall be from
henceforth allowed and paid by the Treasurer of the
said County the Yearly Sum of four Pounds for coals &
fireing to be found and provided by the said Housekeeper
for the accomodation of the Justices of the Peace of the said
County as aforesaid, And that such yearly Payment or
payments shall be allowed to the said Treasurer upon
his account.
