mentioned your Committee are of Opinion that no Person dying
in Prison ought to be buried till an Inquisition taken by the
Coroner and that from the severall Acts it appears that the
Coroner has no Demand on the Goaler for any Sum of Mo-
-ney whatsover when any Such Inquisition is taken yt the
taking 5s from the Goaler for a Warrant to bury is unjustify-
-able & yt the Keepers of New Prison & Bridewell have both
been to blame that they have not immediately on the Death
of any Prisoner in their Prison apply'd to & acquainted the Co
-roner with the said Death & requested him to come & enquire
wch. Information & Request appears to be necessary & that the
Method of making an Affidavit by some Person in Prison
that the Deceased was not starved or murdered & so obtain-
-ing a Warrant from the Coroner to bury is irregular and
unjustifyable And further that the Justices of Peace in the
County where any such Default of a Coroner shall happen to
be have Authority & Power to enquire thereof & to determine
the same by Examination. All wch. is submitted to the Con
-sideration of the Court
